Enchanted WoodsTM is a magical three-acre landscape located within Winterthur Garden in Winterthur, Delaware.

This enchanted fairy tale garden is designed for children and those young-at-heart who want to experience the imaginative world of woodland fairies.

As you wander through the woods filled with majestic oak trees visitors can discover such attractions as the Tulip Tree House, the Troll Bridge, the Story Stones, S-s-serpentine path, the Acorn tea room and the centerpiece of this magical place, a thatched-roof stone Fairie Cottage with oak-leaf chandelier and marble-frame fireplace.

Besides all the woodland spirits, including Pixies, Fairies, Elves, Gnomes who helped build the place, The Enchanted WoodsTM is also the home of Glimmer a Magician Fairy and Cobweb, the story teller fairy.


The Enchanted WoodTM is part of the former home of Henry Francis du Pont which is part of a 966-acre country estate filled with rolling hills, streams, meadows, forests and gardens, including the 60-acre naturalistic Winterthur Garden.

Born in Philadelphia, Jerome Alphonse Holst worked 30 years as a librarian. He has since retired and lives in Thomasville, North Carolina. Mr. Holst is also the author of the children’s books “Norman the Troll,” "Norman the Troll and the Haunted House," and "Gretchen and the Gremlins." In addition, he penned the fantasy novel “The Adventures of Glinda Gale,” a retelling of “The Wizard of Oz" and the reference text “The Encyclopedia of Movie and TV Insults.” .
