The Cupcake Fairies – New Orleans, LA

The Cupcake Fairies is a specialty bakery based in New Orleans, Louisiana. They sell baked goods online and from a stand in the French Market on North Peter Streets and at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk by the Mississippi River.

Launched in 2009, the company is owned by Michele Burton-Oatis and her sister Melissa B. Woods. Together, these “two very special magical fairies create unique, beautiful, and delicious cupcakes for your pleasure…Using the finest ingredients, they craft moist, seriously addictive cakes topped with rich, creamy frosting.”

“The mission at Cupcake Fairies is to impact the world one cupcake at a time by making high quality confections with an experience that put a smiles on faces and joy in tummies!”

The Cupcake Fairies started while they were working with an elderly group at a Community Center who asked the sisters to make 300 cupcakes overnight for an upcoming event. With the help of family, and two pans, they completed the order and their business was born (“We didn’t go looking for cupcakes, cupcakes came and found us”).

Cupcake Fairies offers personalized service, and guarantee that each handcrafted cupcake is a delicious reflection of your event theme. Delivered fresh to your door, their cupcakes offer you a unique way to celebrate and share. They deliver magic to offices, homes, special event locations, birthday parties, or anywhere you want cupcakes. Their specialty is a magical creation called the “FairyCake” which are twice as big and double stuffed.

Visit them every weekend (weather permitting) at the historic French Market or daily at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk New Orleans where you will find their signature FairyCakes, PixieCakes, gift baskets as well as cranberry, blueberry and almond cookies.

They also offer a wonderful selection of delicious cupcakes, including Red Velvet, and Praline Crunch cupcake, which includes pralines and a layer of cream cheese filling. The Traditional King Cake is served during Mardi Gras season.

In 2011, The Cupcake Fairies appeared on “Cupcake Wars” on the Food Network episode “Nutcracker,” when four talented bakers competed to have their cupcakes at the opening night party for the New York City Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker.

NOTE: In 2012, another enchanted business, The Sweet Tooth Fairy bake shop, based in American Fork, became the first Utah company to win “Cupcake Wars,” a culinary competition on The Food Network.

The terms “Cupcake” and “Fairies” have appeared in a variety of venues, including business names and book titles.
