Elf Village – Glenville, NC

Elf Village is a holiday attraction located on the grounds of the Tom Sawyer Tree Farm in Cashier Valley at 240 Chimney Pond Road in town of Glenville in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Located in a woodsy hollow by a stream, the Elf Village features:

  • The Elf Bridge – Where you can don an elf smock and hat as you enter the village of tree houses.
  • The Craft Cottage – A hands-on crafts project that will become a treasured hoilkday memory and decoration for your tree.
  • Visit to Santa’s Hut – Where Santa resides on the weekends.
  • Santa’s Post Office – Write and mail your wish list to Santa. Wish List forms will be available or you can bring your own to our special post office.
  • Storytelling Cottage – Where special storyteller elves read holiday stories to the little kids and big kids.
  • Elf Village Chapel – A blessing to all who visit our Elf-sized Chapel decorated with the Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer & even a Menorah.
  • S’Mores – Join us by the fire pit at marshmallow hollow by the water fall roasting marshmellows and smores.
  • Horse-drawn carriage – Photo opportunities with beautiful antique sleighs and carriages. Rides available for a nominal fee.
  • Big Red Barn – Where you can shop for wreaths garland, gifts and other Christmas decorations.
  • Reindeer Scavenger Hunt – Find hidden natural treasures in the Elf Village Hollow and around the Farm. Prizes given to those who complete the scavenger hunt.

NOTE: The Tom Sawyer Tree Farm is open year ‘round but the peak season is from November 18th through December 23rd. Set atop of a mountain that overlooks Lake Glenville, the 80 acre family-owned farm for over 30 years, sells Fraser Fir Christmas trees, wreaths, garland and also offers venues for weddings & other events. Admission is free although there is a minimal charge for some activities.

During the Spring, the Elf Village now hosts an annual Easter egg hunt and Pancake Breakfast along with a number of other Easter-themed amusements including, face painting, duck and chick petting, a bunny hop, tractor-pull hay rides and a rubber duck race are among the activities planned.

There is also a similarly named Christmas Tree farm called “Tom Sawyer’s Christmas Trees” at 402 Uncle Duck Road, Monetta, South Carolina 29105.

Born in Philadelphia, Jerome Alphonse Holst worked 30 years as a librarian. He has since retired and lives in Greensboro, North Carolina. Mr. Holst is also the author of the children’s books “Norman the Troll,” "Norman the Troll and the Haunted House," and "Gretchen and the Gremlins." In addition, he penned the fantasy novel “The Adventures of Glinda Gale,” a retelling of “The Wizard of Oz" and the reference text “The Encyclopedia of Movie and TV Insults.” .
