Pocket Dragons – In the Medieval Era

Pocket Dragons are six tiny green dragons featured on the syndicated TV children’s series POCKET DRAGON ADVENTURES (1998)

The Pocket Dragons series told the tale of happy-go-lucky dragons who frolic together in a magical medieval kingdom with a kind-hearted Wizard.

The Pocket Dragons included:

  • Filbert, the leader of the group
  • Specs, an intelligent bookworm with glasses
  • Zoom-Zoom, the swiftest of the dragons who wears an aviator helmet
  • Scribbles, an inventive female who always carries a pencil
  • Cuddles, who is always taking a nap on his favorite pillow (in his dreams
he becomes an adventurer called “Sir Cuddles”)
  • Binky, a small female dragon, the youngest of the bunch.

Beside the Wizard, the Dragons were also friends with Princess Betty Bye Belle who ran the village library. Specs the dragon has a crush on her.

Theme Song Lyrics
(Music and Lyrics by
Sandy Howell and Matt McGuire)

Pocket Dragons, Pocket Dragons, Pocket Dragons
They’re brave as they can be
They’re small but what you get
Isn’t always what you see
Something new ’round every corner,
Action packed with mystery
Pocket Dragon Adventures
There’s Cuddles and there’s Binky
Filbert always thinks he’s right
Scribbles loves inventing
But her gadgets are a fright
Zoom Zoom tries to fly
But he never gets too far, and
Specs has got another plan
To raid the cookie jar

Pocket Dragons, they surely will amuse
They’ll stand up to a knight
But barely see above his shoes
They’ll build a new contraption
You would never think to use
Oh No! Look Out! Kazootles!!!
It must have blown a fuse

There’s always an adventure
Waiting to be found
But they don’t always see it coming
‘Cause they’re so close to the ground
Still they’ll rise to the occasion
Headed straight for victory
And they won’t stop for anything
Unless they pass a bakery

Pocket Dragons, get ready, here they come
So many ways to save the day, they can’t decide which one!
Though their magic doesn’t always work, it’s always just as fun
Pocket Dragon Adventures!
Pocket Dragons, Pocket Dragons, Pocket Dragons

NOTE: The POCKET DRAGONS were created by Texas artist and sculptor Real Musgrave. In 1989, he licensed his dragon images to Collectible World Studios, and began to sculpt fantasy figurines based on his own designs.

His creations proved to be very successful and eventually, the Paris-based Bohbot Kids Network (BKN) purchased the rights to turn the figurines into a cartoon series of 52 episodes that launched in France on the April Fools Day 1998 and premiered throughout Europe in September of 1998.

Writers Marv Wolfman and Craig Miller collaborated with Musgrave on the series. In America, the program was produced by DiC Enterprises and Wolfmill Entertainment.
