Rob GnomeKowski is a gnome likeness of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski that resides in the patio garden at the Connecticut Yankee Bar, located in Potrero Hill section of San Francisco.
The statue has been in the bar since since 2015 when co-owner Tony Cooney and partners took over the establishment.
“Everyone kinda sits near it, cheers the gnome, buys the gnome a beer. It’s a good luck to sit near the gnome kinda thing.” – Tony Cooney.
In 2018, the gnome was stolen from the bar’s patio garden by a drunken bar patron. To entice the return of their mascot, signs were posted all over the area in hopes of getting their gnome back before the Super Bowl.
A reward was offered with the promise “Whoever returns Gnomekowski will be rewarded with 4-seats at The Connecticut Yankee during the SUPER BOWL!”
Luckily, the gnome was returned in time for Superbowl 52, but the Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles (41-33).
During the time the gnome was AWOL, an Instagram account was discovered that featured “Gnomekowski” with photos of the statue traveling all over the Bay area.
