Troll Statue – Dexter, MI

Situated along the park’s boardwalk just off Jeffords Street is a statue known as Dexter’s Friendly Troll. The troll wears a hat and stands a top a pile of stones.

A bronze plaque to the side of the statue reads. “Dexter’s Friendly Troll, Wendy Baker, June 2014.

In November, 2020, the troll statue was damaged in an act of reported vandalism, according to Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. The troll suffered damage to its face, body and base.

Born in Philadelphia, Jerome Alphonse Holst worked 30 years as a librarian. He has since retired and lives in Thomasville, North Carolina.
